TEXAS 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS GRANT PROGRAM

NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPLY for the Texas 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Program, Cycle 2, RFA #701-03-021, should be received by TEA not later than Thursday, September 25, 2003. The filing of the notice is not mandatory, however, it will assist the Texas Education Agency in anticipating the volume of applications in order to better expedite the review process and finalize awards. Completed grant applications must be received in the Document Control Center at TEA by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2003, to be considered for funding. A total of approximately $22,000,000 is available. See attached.

APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL FUNDING (SAS-A200-04) DEADLINE Charter schools must submit their Application for Federal Funding (SAS-A200-04) on or before the September 1, 2003 deadline to the Division of Student Support Programs of the TEA to apply and receive the planning amounts (which were mailed to charters by Certified Mail in late July) for the following NCLB programs for the 2003-2004 school year:

Title I, Part A-Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies
Title I, Part D-Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth Who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At-Risk
Title II, Part A-Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting Fund
Title II, Part D-Enhancing Education Through Technology
Title IV, Part A-Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities
Title V, Part A-Innovative Programs
Charter schools that miss the September 1, 2003 application deadline for the Application for Federal Funding (SAS-A200-04) are automatically ineligible for NCLB funding in the 2003-2004 school year.
