STAR SPANGLED SKILLS TIMELINES
The Resource Center has updated the Star Spangled Skills© timelines which
includes an indicator for each of the new TAKS objectives. This update
is available, at no cost to your charter, and will compliment the TEA
TAKS Information Booklets. If your charter school wants to receive the
revised timelines please fill in the information below and fax to the
Resource Center at 210-348-7899. Fifty-six of the charters have already
requested and received this document last week.

SUBMISSION OF EXPANSION AMENDMENTS
The deadline for the submission of expansion amendments requests for the
2003-2004 school year is March 1, 2003. Expansion amendments include those
that would (1) expand grade levels served, (2) increase maximum enrollment
(3) add a campus, or (4) expand the geographic boundary. The amendment
request form is available at www.tea.state.tx.us/charter/forms/csforms.htm.
Print the form, fill it out, and fax it, along with any additional information
you would like to include, to Kirsten Christophersen in the Charter Schools
Division of TEA at 512-463-9732. Forms may also be mailed to the Texas
Education Agency, 1701 N. Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701-1494. Call

CHARTER SCHOOL AUDIT DATES
In the To The Administrator Addressed letter from TEA dated November 12,
2002 that was sent to every charter school, it stated certain financial
management standards that apply to charter schools have been amended.
School districts and charter schools will file three separate financial
reports with the TEA for school year 2001-2002, as follows:
- Annual Financial and Compliance Report, due January 28, 2003
(or November 27, 2002 for school districts that changed their
fiscal year start date to July 1, 2001)
- Agreed-Upon Procedures for State Compensatory Education,
due January 28, 2003 (or November 27, 2002 for school districts
that changed their fiscal year start date to July 1, 2001)
- Independent Auditor's: Annual Dropout Records Report, due
April 23, 2003
