STAKEHOLDER'S MEETING TEA will hold a public meeting to provide information and receive public comments on the commissioner's rules regarding training for charter school officers and board members, as required by HB6. This public meeting is part of the effort to include stakeholder input in the rule-making process. Attendees should provide three copies of their written comments and those choosing to speak will be allowed three minutes for testimony. Members of the public may also fax written comments at 512-463-9732. The meeting will be Thursday, November 21, 2002 in Room 1-100, William B. Travis building, 1701 N. Congress Avenue, Austin from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The agenda for the public meeting will be as follows:

III. Public comments and discussion

Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis on the roof (flat, open area) in Garage Q at the east side of the Travis building at no cost. Due to increased security, you will need to provide your license plate number to staff immediately upon arrival. Cars parked on other floors of Garage Q or in other state garages may be ticketed and/or towed. Parking is also available in two UT parking garages off MLK Boulevard for approximately $7.00 per day

GENERATION THREE RENEWAL APPLICATION The Generation Three renewal application can now be downloaded from the Charter Schools Division web page at www.tea.state.tx.us/charter. A letter was recently mailed to Generation Three schools that provides general information about the renewal process and application due dates. The letter is also on the division web pages under the correspondence link. Please contact Ertha Patrick at 512-463-9575 with any questions about renewal.

TEA AUTHORIZED EVALUATION OF CHARTER SCHOOLS The Texas Center for Educational Research has randomly selected 62 charter schools to participate in the survey portion of the annual evaluation. All campuses associated with these schools are expected to participate. The attached list identifies the 62 schools for the 2002-03 evaluation.
