CHARTER SCHOOL CONFERENCE
 SIXTH ANNUAL TEXAS CHARTER SCHOOL CONFERENCE will
be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 29 & 30, 2002 at the Moody Gardens
Hotel in Galveston. We expect over 700 attendees this year so please call
the Moody Gardens Hotel at 888-388-8484 for room reservations as soon
as possible. Let the hotel know you are with the Charter School Conference
to qualify for the $125 rate, which can accommodate up to four people in one
room for $125. Conference information and registration forms are attached.
TEXTBOOK DEADLINE TODAY Today, Friday, February 15, 2002 is
the last day to submit requests for textbooks for school year 2001-2002. Call
Dora Cortez at 512-463-9601 for assistance.
ORIENTATION SESSIONS SCHEDULED The Charter Schools
Division at TEA has tentatively scheduled orientation sessions for May 9 & 10
and July 22 & 23, 2002 in Austin. Watch the Friday Fax® for more information.

Attendance Accounting and Alternative Accountability Reporting will be
discussed at the Association of Charter Educators (ACE) workshop on
