TEXTBOOK QUESTION AND ANSWER Eugene Rios, from the Textbook Administration at TEA, has forwarded another frequently asked Q & A to the Resource Center.

Question:
What are the procedures for obtaining Special Education textbooks/programs?

Answer:
There are no textbooks specifically adopted for special education students. You need to order the state adopted textbook based on the students proficiency level. Example: You may have a 5thgrade special education student who is included in your 5th grade enrollment but is reading at a 3rd grade level. Therefore, you would include the same student in grades 3 and 5 and order the student a 3rd grade reader, but NOT a 5th grade reader. The quota for the special education student is the same as a regular student which is one textbook per student per subject. For questions contact the TEA Special Education Division at 512-463-9414.
