SCHOOL CALENDAR REVISIONS If your charter plans to submit a revised calendar to allow for staff development days for the Charter School Conference on April 29-30 it is important to follow the Division of State Funding procedures for submitting calendar revisions. A copy of your revised calendar signed by your Superintendent, with a specific written explanation of what was changed on your calendar, must be faxed to Nora Rainey at TEA at 512-463-9233. Make sure you are still in compliance with the total number of days taught and your attendance report and calendar match. For information call Nora at 512-463-9238.

SIGNIFICANTLY EXPANDED CHARTER SCHOOL CHILD COUNT Wednesday, November 21, 2001, is the deadline for the submission of the Significantly Expanded Charter School Child Count. There are no extensions. A charter school may determine that it is appropriate to submit significant expansion child count information. If so, the child count must be reported in the Significant Expansion Charter School Child Count screens on the automated 2001-2002 Web Standard Application System (WEB SAS) for Special Education Programs at http://barton.tea.state.tx.us/websas. SENATE BILL 1196 WORKSHOP Region 2 ESC in Corpus Christi will conduct a workshop on Senate Bill 1196 that prohibits the use of certain behavior management techniques and defines seclusion, restraint, and confinement for students with disabilities. The workshop will be on November 30, 2001 and February 19, 2002 from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. There is no fee. Call 361-561-8525 for information.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE GRANT George I. Sanchez Charter School is pleased to announce the receipt of an $850,000 grant for their Latino Technology Network (LTN) project for their parent organization, AAMA. GIS Charter School students will be trained then hired during the implementation phase of this project, which is designed to link community-based organizations in at least six states.
