Academic / Accountability Academies 2001 will be hosted by the Resource Center in Dallas and Houston for all Texas charters. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge. See attached for times, dates, and registration form. The Math Workshops for grades K-2, 3-5 & 6-8 are two-day events. Please refrain from bringing any children or students to the workshops.

TEA UPDATE
2001-2002 IDEA-B FUNDS AVAILABLE NOW Tentative entitlements
for IDEA-B Formula, IDEA-B Capacity Building, and IDEA-B Preschool are
available for application on the web at www.barton.tea.state.tx.us/websas.
Although the deadline for applying is May 15, 2002, the use of these funds are
only available as of the date of certification to "L" status upon Notice of Grant
Award (NOGA). If you need further technical assistance, please contact your
regional Education Service Center's Special Education Director or get information from the following website: www.tea.state.tx.us/special.ed/esc
SCHOOL REPAIR AND RENOVATION GRANT (RFA#701-01-027)
is expected to be posted in the Texas Register on Friday, July 27, 2001. Under
this grant, charter schools will be allowed to use the awarded funds more
broadly than regular school districts.
NEW CHARTER SCHOOLS ORIENTATIONThe Division of Charter
Schools is hosting a charter school orientation session on July 26 and 27, 2001.
While the session is required for those schools who have not attended a previous
session and are planning to open in the fall, all charter schools are welcome to
attend. Many operating charter schools have attended more than one orientation
session and have indicated to us that it has been helpful each time. Please contact
Kirsten Christophersen in the charter division at 512-463-9575 if you plan to
attend. There is no charge. A tentative agenda follows.

public meetings to provide information and receive public comments about
agency rule-making resulting from HB 6. These public meetings are part of
the effort to include stakeholder input in the rule-making process. Members
