Aboard the USS TEXAS CHARTER You
may check-in early for the Texas Charter School Conference in the
first floor main lobby of the Omni Bayfront on Thursday, February 24th
from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Check-in time for the Omni sleeping rooms
is anytime after 3:00 p.m.) You will be able to pick up your
nametag, black briefcase, conference packets, and avoid the check-in lines
on Friday morning. Attached is the schedule for the conference.
The
Conference buffet dinner at the Museum will be casual.
OVERFLOW
HOTELS FOR THE CONFERENCE The Omni Bayfront has informed us they do
not have any sleeping rooms left for the conference. The following
is a list of overflow hotels who will probably honor the $70.00 room rate.

DIRECTIONS
From the Omni
Bayfront Hotel to Seashore Learning Center
-
From the Omni Hotel, travel North on
either Shoreline Blvd. or Water Street to IH-37. (Only a couple of
blocks)
-
Travel toward San Antonio on IH-37 to
Crosstown Expressway. (left exit) (only about 1 mile, get in left
lane ASAP)
-
Stay on Crosstown Expressway until it
terminates into South Padre Island Drive (SPID), (approximately 4-5 miles).
-
Take the left exit from Crosstown Expressway
onto SPID headed East.
-
Stay on SPID all the way through the
business area (10-12 miles) until Freeway ends.
-
At the end of the Freeway, you will
be approaching Laguna Madre, the water that separates the mainland from
Padre Island. Continue on the causeway across Laguna Madre and over the
high bridge over the Intercoastal Canal. As you come off of the high
bridge onto 'The Island," SPID changes its name to Park Road 22.
-
Stay on Park Road 22 (SPID). The
road curves to the right and you will be heading South. After about
one (1) mile on Padre Island you will pass through a traffic light.
Continue South approximately another mile and pass through a second (2nd)
traffic light. Approximately one (1) more mile South there will be
a blinking yellow caution light. The Seashore Learning Center Office
is in the last building on the right BEFORE the caution light. (Converted
convenience store)
