CHARTER SCHOOL SURVEY
In early August, all charter school directors received a copy of the annual charter school evaluation survey from the University of Texas at Arlington. Annual participation in this survey is required by the charter school statute, TEC Section 12.118, and failure to participate could lead to probation or revocation of your charter. The survey should be sent to Dr. Delbert Taebel, School of Urban & Public Affairs, Box 19588, Arlington, Texas, 76019 no later than Friday, September 15, 2000. If you are unable to locate your copy of the survey, please contact his office at 817-272-3071.

GIRLS AND BOYS PREP
Girls and Boys Prep Charter will host city and state competitions this fall for 6th-12th grade students in History, Science, Math, and English. For more information and to attend an inservice on October 9th, please RSVP by September 8, 2000 to Ms. Iman Davis at 713-270-5994 or fax, 713-270-1302.

CLARIFICATION ABOUT INITIAL ON-SITE VISITS
During the Initial Onsite Visits to charter school campuses and charter satellite campuses, all indicators may be reviewed. The focus for bilingual/ESL and special education review will be the indicators discussed in the IOV training sessions, however, TEA visitors may note information in files or hear information in interviews that generate other questions. TEA visitors may review any or all other indicators.
