GRANT AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT TEA has announced a grant for charters that is available for restructuring and accountability for schools and can be up to $40k for Professional Development, Parent and Community Training on Standards, etc.. If you have not received forms in the mail, they are available at this website: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/sii/icfg/index.html. The closing date is Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at 5:00 p.m., Central Time.
408R FEDERAL STARTUP GRANT The SAS grant referred to in last week's memo from TEA is your 408R Federal Start-Up grant that was originally for $30,000. The deadline for getting these amendments in is August 30, 1999. See attached memo.

THIRD ANNUAL TEXAS CHARTER SCHOOL CONFERENCE Back by popular demand, Dr. Howard Fuller is confirmed as one of our keynote speakers for the Third Annual Texas Charter School Conference which will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 25 - 26, 2000 at the Corpus Christi Omni. Because we maxed-out the hotel for our conference this past April, we urge you to make your room reservations early by calling the Omni at 361-887-1600.
