THIRD ANNUAL TEXAS CHARTER SCHOOL CONFERENCE Back by popular demand, Dr. Howard Fuller is confirmed as one of our keynote speakers for the Third Annual Texas Charter School Conference which will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 25 - 26, 2000 at the Corpus Christi Omni. Because we maxed-out the hotel for our conference this past April, we urge you to make your room reservations early by calling the Omni at 361-887-1600. Please let them know you are with the Charter School Conference so that you may qualify for the $70 room rate. Your credit card will not be billed until you check-in at the hotel.

URGENT MEMORANDUM TEA has determined that charter schools that have not provided evidence of their 501(c)(3) status of their sponsoring entities are not eligible for state funding. Please see attached memo from Brooks Flemister for more information.

REMINDER FOM THE DIVISION OF STATE FUNDING: The 1999-2000 estimate reports and calendars for all charter schools were due on Monday August 2. If you haven't submitted this information please fax it to Nora Rainey at (512) 463-9233. Please make sure that your estimate reports indicate the name of the resident district(s). Additionally, please note that your calendar must be broken out into six approximately equal reporting periods. The total number days of instruction must be 180. The reporting periods should be approximately equal, but they do not have to be 30 days each. In other words, one reporting period of 28 days and one of 32 days is acceptable. A reporting period of 45 days and one of 15 days is not considered approximately equal, and is not acceptable.
