Congratulations to Iris Burnham, founder of Burnham Wood Charter School in El Paso. 100% of her students passed the TAAS Writing and Reading Exam this year. 25% of her students received Academic Recognition for their scores on the TAAS Reading Exam and 16% received Academic Recognition for their scores on the TAAS Math Exam.
YELLOW PAGES If you would like a CHARTER SCHOOLS heading in your yellow pages, contact your SWB representative and write a letter to the headings committee explaining why charter schools need their own heading. The headings committee needs letters from at least 10 charter schools across the state.
CURRICULUM GUIDES Mike Shepherd, Director of Texas Language Charter, has authored two curriculum guides that may be of interest at Cinco de Mayo and the month of May and he will share them at cost with all the other charter schools. "Hispanic American Heritage" is an activity book for elementary teachers who wish to explore Hispanic culture and traditions in America. "Shadow of a Bull" is a curriculum guide that deals with Spain and the bullfight traditions. Please call Mike at 214-941-4881 to order these materials.
STUDENT ROSTERS AND DEMOGRAPHICS Kay Thomas of the Texas Center for Educational Research has asked that you fill out the attached Evaluation forms concerning demographics of your school and send student rosters for a parent survey.
