Presentation Proposals Deadline
The deadline for submitting presentation proposals for the 2007 National Charter Schools Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 24-27, 2007, is OCTOBER 16TH. This is your chance to share and discuss best practices, lessons learned, and visions of chartering in the future. Submission proposals are divided into four strands: Quality, Capacity, Policy, and Advocacy.

Evaluation of Accounting and Financial Management
HB1 requires that TEA study and report back to the 80th Texas Legislature on a number of topics regarding financial accountability and management in public schools. TEA will provide all school districts, charter schools, and ESCs with an electronic survey within the next few weeks. Timely and accurate response to these surveys will be critical to the successful completion of the study. In October 2006 a team will conduct site visits with selected school districts, charter schools and ESCs to augment and clarify the results of the survey. All site visits and interviews will be coordinated and scheduled in advance.
