Board Member and Charter Administrator Training
Join the Association of Charter Educators (ACE) trainers Virginia Lannen and Margaret Rohde in Dallas on Friday, April 28, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for an important update on new state laws that affect charter schools, as well as a thorough review of the new Texas Administrative Code rules adopted in April 2006. The training qualifies for both initial and continuing training for board members and charter administrators under the "School Law" and "School Finance" modules. This training will be held at Winfree Academy Charter School, 6221 Riverside Drive, Suite 110, Irving, Texas 75039.

Workshop fees are as follows:
  • ACE members: $125 or $100 each for two or more from same school
  • Non-ACE members: $225

Intensive Reading and Math Instruction Grant
Approximately $20 million in Intensive Reading and Math Instruction grant funds will soon be available to Texas schools for use to improve reading and math achievement for students in grades 4-6. Campus eligibility was based on 2005 student passing rates on the fifth-grade reading and math Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests. Applications for Cycle I of these two grant programs are currently available in eGrants. The deadline for completing and submitting the applications is May 15, 2006. The grant project period is May 1, 2006 - July 31, 2007.
