Professional Development Workshop

NASA's Middle School Aerospace Scholars (MAS) Program
NASA is inviting all Texas middle school teachers to apply for a professional development workshop. Selected 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teachers from across Texas, in teams of two (math and science) or four (math, science, social studies, language arts), will participate in a one-week summer workshop at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) followed by distance learning opportunities in their classrooms. Workshop dates are June 18-23, 2006 and June 25-30, 2006 for two-member teams and July 9-14, 2006 for the four-member teams. Teams will experience behind-the-scenes tours of JSC facilities, attend briefings with engineers, learn how to integrate NASA instructional materials into their classroom curriculum, and develop an action plan to implement at their schools. A team must be comprised of teachers from the same school. All transportation, lodging, meals, and related activities will be provided at no cost to selected workshop participants. In addition, 33 Gifted and Talented (GT) credit hours will be awarded. The deadline to submit the application is March 10, 2006.
