FINANCIAL AND COMPLIANCE REPORT DUE
Pursuant to the terms of the applicable Contract for Charter, the financial and compliance report for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2005 is due on or before January 28, 2006. Reports filed after this date will be considered delinquent. As discussed in Section 1.7.4 of the Special Supplement to the Financial Accountability System Resource Guide, Charter Schools (the supplement) at www.tea.state.tx.us/school.finance/audit/chartersupplement_1103.doc, the financial and compliance report will be deemed timely filed if it is complete and is filed within 150 days following the end of the charter school's fiscal year. As discussed in Section 1.7.4.3.1 of the supplement, a charter holder will be deemed to be in material noncompliance if it fails to file the financial and compliance report within 180 days following the end of the charter school's fiscal year end. Submission of Expansion Amendments
The deadline for the submission of expansion amendment requests for the 2006-2007 school year is February 1, 2006. Expansion amendments include those that would (1) expand grade levels served, (2) increase maximum enrollment, (3) add a site, or (4) expand the geographic boundary. The form is available at www.tea.state.tx.us/charter/forms/amendments.pdf. Fax the completed form, along with an appropriate board resolution and any other required documentation, to Arnoldo Alaniz in the Charter Schools Division of TEA at 512-463-9732. Prekindergarten Expansion Grant Cycle 10 Reconciliation Mailout
TEA has computed the funding earned under the Cycle 10 (2004-2005) Prekindergarten Expansion Grant. The reconciliation letters and PEIMS Summaries were mailed on January 6, 2006 to district Superintendents and COOs of charter schools that received Cycle 10 grant funding. These letters indicate if the LEA has earned the amount paid from the Summary of Finance (SOF), or if an overpayment was made. Since the funding for the Prekindergarten Expansion Grant is no longer included in the SOF, any overpayment must be refunded to TEA. The deadline for TEA to receive this refund is February 28, 2006. The Cycle 11 (2005-2006) PreK Expansion Grant NOGA amount will not be affected by the overpayment.
