Primary Role and Purpose:

Responsibilities and Duties:
Instruction
- Ensure students needs
and the improvement of their abilities are met through a variety of
instructional techniques.
- Oversee athletic
activities, contest and practice sessions to provide student growth in
athletic skills, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
- Collaborate with school
staff to ensure individual plan is met that will ensure academic
development of student athletes.
Program Management
- Develop competition
performance criteria to assess students’ athletic abilities initially and
on an ongoing basis.
- Assure all necessary
steps are taken to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and
facilities.
- Keep informed and
enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.

- Design and implement an
ongoing evaluation of coaching program and make adaptations based on
results.
Student Management
- Chaperone student
athletes during school competitions in assigned sporting events and
on out-of-town trips.
- Ensure understanding by
the student of the NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements
for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Ensure student
discipline is enforced during athletic contests, proactive sessions and
while on trips off school property in accordance with the student
handbook.
- Convey through example
and instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic
participation.
Communication
- Ensure two-way
communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals
and teachers.
Administration
- Aid in choosing
equipment and instructional materials.
- Gather, manage, and
file all reports, records and other documents required.
- Keep ongoing record of
all fixed assets within program.
- Supervise process of
cleaning, repairing and storing all charter athletic equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee various assistant
coaches and student athletic assistants.
Job Related Conditions:
- Maintain control in
stressful situations.
- Extended hours may be
required.
- Frequent travel.
