Primary Role and Purpose:

 

     Manage the charter program for at-risk students.   Collaborate with charter staff and outside

     personnel to ensure educational and career opportunities for at-risk students.

  • Capable of organizing and coordinating charterwide program.
  • Capable of interpreting data.
  • Understanding of curriculum and instruction.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the juvenile judicial system.

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

     Program Management

  • Recognize and monitor all grade levels for at-risk students by effective procedures including review of student data.
  • Provide alternative class work through educational program adaptations to the at-risk student.
  • Ensure pregnant students have educational and community services available to them.
  • Take part in the alternative educational placement process.
  • Assist in the proper implementation of the Drug-Free Schools and Community Act.
  • Design and implement an ongoing assessment of the at-risk program and make adaptations based on the results.
  • Ensure aide staff has appropriate resources and materials to accomplish program goals.
  • Have counseling for individuals and groups for career possibilities.
  • Confer with individuals who associate with students about at-risk situations.

     Finance and Inventory

  • Apply for federal funds and be active in grant-writing activities to gather funding for programs and services for students in at-risk situations.
  • Provide cost-effective programs and see that at-risk funds are managed appropriately.
  • Assess program needs to calculate budget and cost estimates.

 

      Documentation and Law

·         Collaborate with data processing staff to provide accurate PEIMS reporting for dropouts and to provide ongoing tracking of at-risk students.

·         Aid in the evaluation of data for guidance, administrative, and instructional purposes through the gathering, processing, and distribution of at-risk information.

·         Gather, manage, and file all hardcopy and computerized reports, records and other documents required.

·         Abide by policies established by federal and state law that apply to charter schools, Commissioner’s Rules that apply to charter schools, and the local charter policy.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Job Related Conditions:

  • Maintain control in stressful situations.
  • Extended hours may be required.
